PBTC NEWSLETTER

 August 2018

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Hi PBTC Members,

We hope you're enjoying the opening rounds of the US Open and playing some inspired tennis. Here's a quick update from Board on what's going on at the club.

Today, after a long wait and with considerable patience, the electricity is back on at the club. We want to thank the Park & Rec representatives, as well as the city representatives, for their efforts in assisting with getting the situation remedied. We hope that the electrical gremlins have been banished and we can get back to enjoying night tennis and cool beverages from the refrigerator.

The engraved tiles are now placed in front of our newly resurfaced Court 4, but there's still work to be done to fill in the sand around them and put on the finishing touches. We hope you like the placement. You may remember they were moved from under the tree as part of our efforts to save the tree and keep it safe for walking underneath. So far the tree is doing fine and we hope that's a good sign for the future.

We have a club mixer coming up on Friday, September 7, starting at 6:30p. Please go to the Events tab at http://www.pbtennis.com and sign up so we know how much food to bring. Of course, you're welcome (and encouraged) to bring your own goodies to share as well. The mixer is free for members and $5 for non-members. We may have other special activities at the mixer, which are still under development so stand by for more.

Finally, I want to remind you of some other upcoming important dates:

September 15, 2018 is the final date for our current summer flex league matches before we head to the playoffs. Remember the winner of the M3.5, M4.0, and O4.5 divisions will receive 50% off of a lesson with the PBTC tennis pro of their choice. You can sign up for the league at any time. It's members only and it's free.

October 15, 2018 is the date for letting our club secretary (Bob Miller) know if you would like to be considered for one of the four spots on the Board of Directors that will then serve in 2019-2002. You can contact Bob at rmm@robertmillerlaw.com. If you have any questions about serving on the Board please feel free to contact me at david_fogel_nsi@yahoo.com or call me at 858-349-0848.

Our Turkey Tournament will be held November 3, 2018, along with our annual club meeting. We had a great members-only event last year and we're looking forward to a similar great time coming up.

If there's anything else we can help with please let me know. In the meantime, see you at the courts!
